What greeted us at the entrance to the Dallas World Aquarium but wee penguins!
These little blue penguins (Eudyptula minor) are visiting the aquarium as part of a breeding program in conjunction with the Melbourne Zoo. Their area has a nice view of the aquarium’s permanent colony of black-footed penguins through the clear wall behind them.

Also known as the Fairy Penguin in Australia and the Little Penguin or Little Blue Penguin in New Zealand.
These are the smallest Penguins weighing only around 1kg, and are found on the coasts of Australia and New Zealand. This one is in a rescue center having his foot fixed!
A great place to see these chaps is at the Penguin Parade on Phillip Island near Melbourne. No photos allowed though, so we only have pictures of these captive chappies.

A common New Zealand Penguin, these guys even live in the cities. I saw this guy on kapiti, and he wasn’t pleased.
